OOO EXHIBITION

OOO Exhibition

Out of Office (OOO) is an outdoor exhibition in Oslo featuring work by Norwegian and International artists within motion design and moving image. On November 26th 2023, these artists took over 32 vertical outdoor screens at Aker Brygge, showcasing artwork all day and night. I was fortunate enough to be one of them, and submitted 3 pieces that were amongst the artwork shown throughout the day.

As with other motion designers in Norway, I have contributed to many advertisements for clients that are shown on these very screens. Being given complete freedom in the opportunity to showcase our own personal work was a very inspiring endeavour. The purpose of this exhibition, organized by JCDecaux and Uppercase, was to empower the creative community and allow us to bring our own voices to this event.

This event was not only a unique opportunity to share personal work, but an important effort in enriching our creativity, culture and community. The exhibition led to meeting some great people, with whom I could exchange ideas, inspiration and joy for our common creative passion. I hope for more inspiring intiatives like this in the future, within our Norwegian culture and beyond!

THE ARTWORK

My personal artwork within motion and 3D has often been focused on the more technical aspects, showcasing experiments and new techniques. I was in the process of changing render engines within a recently updated Cinema 4D, and with that came new workflows for texturing, lighting and simulations. Three explorations became a representation of what I enjoy most about motion design - technical intricacy, play and pusuing knowledge.

#1 Wipes
An exploration of dynamics and simulation, dressed in colorful textures to brighten the wintery landscape of Aker Brygge.

#2 Vellum
An anti-commercial experiment, with a simulation that slows you down instead of constantly demanding your attention.

#3 Hello Oslo
A piece specific to this exhibition, greeting Oslo and sharing both pride and insecurity in simple, and sometimes hidden messages.
